Hi Y'all,
The previous prices I quoted were coming from a travel agent here in Australia. I have since gone directly to the NCL website, to see if I could find further information regarding the cruise ship and actually discovered that they have already published departure dates for 2010! So, this post is to just update you on some things:
1. We have a choice of two departure dates. Either December 18th or December 25th. As Beth pointed out, the later date doesn't really work in with the US school system's holidays (would get back too late). So in addition to letting us know if you are interested in coming to the reunion cruise, could you please advise which departure date you would prefer.
2. When we are close to booking the cruise, a deposit of $250 per person will be required. Full payment will be required by September 2010, so keep these things in mind when budgeting/saving.
3. As I mentioned in the post with the prices, those prices would not be accurate due to price increases each year, plus high season costs. The NCL website gives you prices for 2010 and unfortunately proved me correct that the prices would be higher... but not unreasonably so, I don't think. There is still the possibility that we are eligible for a group discount, so the cost may decrease with this. There are actually many more pricing brackets than I initially indicated and it would be far to complicated for me to list them all in this post. Instead, you could actually check this out yourself on the website. Click here for the link and follow the steps below.
a. In the drop down box "Choose a destination" select Hawaii then click on the red "View Results" box.
b. Click on Dec 18 (or Dec 25) under the year 2010.
c. Click on the red box "Select" under your chosen date (should be the top line).
d. Select the number of guests staying in your room, then enter the relevant ages (bearing in mind this will be in another 2 years) and click on the blue "continue" box.
e. The next page will give you a list of prices per person (if more than 2 people are staying in the room, this will give a 2nd price for 3+ additional people, per person). As you can see, the choices are VERY extensive!
f. To see a description for each room, click on the blue "category description" box just under the pictures of the room at the top of the page.
g. This is as far as you need to go. DO NOT make any online bookings! We will arrange a group booking once we know when we are going and who is going! Feel free to have a look around the website and find out more information on the ship... just don't make any bookings!
Remember, you are welcome to post anything on this website yourself at anytime, to share with the family! And it doesn't have to be directly related to the cruise! You can just say hello or share your day with the rest of the family!
Until next post!
An easier way to keep in contact with the Lusterman clan, keeping everyone up-to-date regarding the family reunion and an open way to share thoughts and photos etc with everyone! Be sure to keep checking back for new posts and feel free to post anything yourself!

Thank-you Janelle
Thanks for all your hard work in putting this together Janelle! When she and I first started talking about a family reunion we thought of several different ideas. Realizing the cost and effort involved in moving a large group of people from USA to Australia or the other way around, we thought a middle point might work better. Thus ---- Hawaii!
I know several people who have had family reunions on a cruise and they all LOVED it.
Everyone ate together every evening, played games and cards, spent quality time with each other, but were still able to have their "personal time" without offending anyone.
I love to cruise, so for those who have never tried it - don't hesitate to ask lots of questions!
Hope to see lots of posts and discussions to this blog!
A big hug to everyone!
